Experience
Born in Mexico City, Alfredo immigrated to the United States as a young boy and grew up with his close-knit family in Burbank, California. Alfredo fondly recalls participating in youth sports and swim programs at the Burbank YMCA, through the YMCA’s financial assistance program.
Later, he attended UCLA on a football scholarship where he became an All-American football place kicker and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History.
After graduating from college, he moved to San Diego and the YMCA came knocking. He ascended to the position of Regional Executive Director for the YMCA of San Diego after serving several San Diego YMCA branches over a twenty-three-year period.
In 2013, Alfredo became the President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Long Beach. He serves as the chair of the national YMCA CEO Mid-Major group, while locally he is the President for the Long Beach Rotary Club, Board Member for the Long Beach City Pastor Nonprofit, Bikes for Kids, and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph’s Church.
Alfredo enjoys living in Long Beach with his wife Laura and their three children, ages 22, 20, and 18.
